In my travels as a business advisor, university lecturer and general connector of people, I found myself telling a lot of people about Codebar Brighton. It is a fantastic organisation set on helping people learn to code so here’s a blog about them and how you can help by giving back.

Check out the video if you prefer and see what Codebar Brighton is about…

What is Codebar Brighton?

Codebar Brighton is a fantastic resource that helps people learn to code for free. It is aimed at helping minorities into the digital industry, making the industry a more diverse place where a range of creative voices can be heard. The weekly workshops (presently held on Tuesdays) are open to women, LGBT and people who are under represented in the industry. But anyone can access the coding tutorials on their website.

Codebar don’t have a permanent venue so workshops are hosted by different companies who act as sponsors and also provide the pizza.

Coaching is available for beginners, up to more experienced coders, and lessons include HTML, CSS, Javascript and Ruby. Maybe you want a career as a developer or maybe you just want to learn a bit about coding, either way they can help you. And thanks to Codebar I built my first website myself and at very low cost when I was starting up.

The coaches are amazing; they give their time for free to help others. They straight up really enjoy coding and teaching others how to do it.

How can you help Codebar to keep doing this awesome thing?

Can you get involved as a coach? Check out the Codebar Brighton website to find out more about that.

Or maybe as a sponsor or host? Are you an expanding digital company looking to grow your relationship with local coders you might want to one day recruit or maybe you just want to do a good thing and have some fun. Again check out the website at codebar.io/brighton and speak to the organisers.

Know someone who might be interested in this? Maybe you know someone who could help this positive organisation out. Share the love (and the video).
